For some time I mistook these for fly amanita but they are not, despite being of a beautiful bright red... I was a little disappointed (I especially love finding a fly amanita while mushroom hunting) but they do deserve a little post for their cute color :-)

Meudon aqueducts

A very nice discovery I made thanks to the 'Journées du Patrimoine' (Heritage Days): the aqueducts in the Meudon forest.

 

They used to provide the Meudon castle (which no longer exists today) with enough water for the gardens and the many water jets fountains that were displayed at that time. The aqueducts have been cleaned up and maintained by a small association, and some of the elements can easily be seen while strolling in the forest!

Another very nice place to visit around Granville: the Chausey archipelago, which has long been used as a granite quarry in the region.

Carolles

One of my favourite strolls around Granville was the 'Valley of Painters' and the littoral path along the cliffs near Carolles. Such a beautiful discovery, both the sea and the country sides were gorgeous to look at!

I must admit that whenever I go to the seaside, I can't but feel overwhelmed with joy at the beautiful contrast between the light beige color of the sand and the sparkling blue color of the sea. That is a sight that few other things can surpass in my eyes :-)
