Sand and rocks

Such a beautiful seashore... despite the tiny and abrasive barnacles on the rocks ;-)

Rainy day

Memories from a very rainy day, when I decided to visit Dinard and walk back to Saint-Malo (!) via the barrage on the Rance river. That is a very long stroll... And the rain, though not very heavy, was constant and had me completely drenched after the first 2 hours of walking. However, somehow I only keep good memories of this day! It was very nice after all, the trip was definitely worth it :-)

Dinard, with its Promenade du Clair-de-Lune, is a very pretty city to visit. I also had the opportunity to take a tour in the Rance Tidal Power Station (at the barrage), which was both very interesting and a nice place to dry and warm up a bit! The path along the coast was also especially beautiful despite the rain, and I enjoyed it a lot :-D

Stone walls

One of the main charms of Brittany, its houses with stone walls - in the countryside or old city streets!

Monuments

A collection of interesting monuments around Saint-Malo: Fort National, Solidor Tower, and Fort-la-Latte.

Fort National is a fort located on a small island, built in the 17th century by Vauban to protect Saint-Malo's port.
Solidor tower is a fortified tower (in fact, three linked towers) built in the 14th century to control access to the Rance river.
Fort-la-latte is an impressive castle built in the 14th century on a rocky cape (naturally not very accessible and offering a nice view on the channel), which hosted several historical film shootings.

Carved rocks

Near Saint-Malo can be found one of the most famous 'naive art' work in Brittany: the carved rocks of Rothéneuf. Those amazing sculptures were created by the Abbé Fouéré, who retired after having suffered from a severe hearing loss.

I was deeply moved and impressed by this unbelievable art site, and I strongly recommend you go and visit it before the waves further erode the rocks...

Insects party

Despite the quite rainy weather, or maybe thanks to it, there were a lot of flowers - especially on the little islands, Grand-Bé and Petit-Bé. What a feast for insects :-)

A view that I enjoyed taking a lot: the bell tower of the Saint-Vincent cathedral, blurred and from afar behing some plants :-)

Micro Zoo

The first thing I visited after I got to Saint-Malo was a tiny zoo located inside the ramparts walls - I had noticed it among the exhibited flyers of the tourist office - and it was really worth the visit!

Trip to Saint-Malo

A new trip to Brittany this year, this time to the pretty medieval city of Saint-Malo :-)

I really enjoyed the place (despite a slightly wet weather), especially the ramparts circling the historical center which I could access within a few minutes from the accomodation I was staying in!
